Goa Travel Guide
Why I Love Goa
The moment you step onto the sandy shores of Goa, the salty sea breeze and rhythmic sound of the waves instantly rejuvenate your spirit. Picture this: golden sunsets casting a warm glow over swaying palm trees as you sip on a cool King’s beer. Goa is more than just a beautiful beach destination; it’s an intoxicating blend of vibrant cultures, killer curries, and a laid-back vibe that immediately makes you feel at home. Whether it’s the raucous beach parties at Anjuna or the serene backwaters in the south, Goa’s diversity ensures there’s something for everyone to fall in love with.

Getting There
Most international visitors fly into Goa Dabolim Airport (GOI), which is well-connected to major Indian cities like Mumbai and Delhi. From London or New York, you’ll likely need a layover in one of these cities. Direct flights from Dubai take around 3 hours. For those needing a visa, India’s e-Visa services are straightforward. I recommend checking the latest requirements well in advance to avoid any last-minute hiccups.

Casa Anjuna is my pick for something a bit more comfortable. With its Portuguese architecture and lush gardens, it’s a serene retreat just a short walk from Anjuna Beach. Perfect for lazy days and late-night beach strolls. Check availability on Expedia

>My Favourite Things To DoSunset at Anjuna Beach
One of my favourite things to do here is catch the sunset at Anjuna Beach. The sky bursts into shades of orange and pink while the sound of distant drums fills the air. Grab a seat at a beach shack, and watch as day turns to night over the Arabian Sea. Magical! Book with Viator
Spice Plantation Tour
Explore a spice plantation and discover the aromatic world of spices that make Goan cuisine so unique. You’ll wander through cardamom fields, inhale the scent of fresh vanilla, and enjoy a traditional Goan lunch. Trust me, it’s a sensory delight you shouldn't miss. Book with GetYourGuide
Day Trip to Dudhsagar Falls
Goa isn’t just beaches! Take a day trip to Dudhsagar Falls — the sheer sight of water cascading down the mountains is breathtaking. I suggest getting there early to beat the crowds and enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear pool. Book with Viator
>Where to EatYou have to try Café Alchemia in Candolim for breakfast. The mushroom omelette and strong coffee are the perfect start to a day. For a taste of authentic Goan seafood, don’t leave without eating at Anoshka in Baga - the prawn curry is to die for. For dinner with a view, Gunpowder in Assagao has a picturesque garden setting — their pork vindaloo is incredible!
>Honest Local TipsRent a scooter: It’s the cheapest and most fun way to explore, but remember to wear a helmet and carry your license.
Avoid the beaches on weekends: They get crowded. If you're looking for serenity, weekdays are your best bet.
Try feni with caution: This local cashew or coconut liquor is potent! I learned this the hard way one night.
Attend a beach shack party: After spending all day lounging, get your groove on to live music or DJs. Curlies is a classic spot.
Bargain at flea markets: From Anjuna to Arpora, haggling is expected, and part of the fun!
Watch for rip currents: Some beaches like Palolem can have strong currents, so swim where it’s safe.
>Getting AroundScooters are king! They cost around $5-7 per day, and riding one is pure freedom. Download the GoaMiles app for reliable taxi services, and always settle the fare before hopping in. Beware of taxi scams; always double-check prices. Buses are extremely cheap, although not the most comfortable if you're venturing far.
>Is Goa Worth It?Absolutely, Goa is perfect for beach lovers, party animals, and those seeking a slice of tropical paradise. The high-energy north and the restful south cater to all kinds of travelers. However, if you're not a fan of sand, music, or crowds (especially during the high season), Goa might not win you over. For me, its warmth, both in the people and the weather, keep me coming back for more.
