Why I Love New York
Picture this: Walking through Central Park as the early morning mist rises, the sounds of the city just beginning to stir. New York has an energy that's impossible to ignore. I remember my first morning there, grabbing a bagel from a street vendor and watching the city wake up. The diversity, the hustle, and the never-ending list of things to do captivate me every time. It’s a place where you can lose yourself in a museum, discover a hidden speakeasy, or find a new world in every neighborhood. It’s the city that never sleeps but always dreams.

Getting There
New York is incredibly accessible. You’ve got three major airports: JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark. Depending on where you’re flying from, JFK or Newark is usually your best bet. From London, it’s about a 7-hour flight, and direct flights are abundant with airlines like British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. From New York, it’s around 11 hours to Dubai on Emirates. If you're coming from within the U.S., budget carriers like JetBlue and Southwest often offer great deals. Don't forget to check if you need an ESTA if you're from a visa-waiver country.

>Where to EatYou have to try Joe’s Pizza in Greenwich Village. It's a classic slice joint—cash only, nothing fancy, but oh so satisfying.
Don’t leave without eating at Katz's Delicatessen on the Lower East Side. Their pastrami on rye is legendary and worth every penny.
For brunch, head to Jack’s Wife Freda in SoHo. The shakshuka and rose water waffle are incredible. Cute, bustling spot perfect for people watching.
>Honest Local TipsWalk whenever possible. It’s the best way to discover hidden gems and unique neighborhoods.
Avoid Times Square at peak hours. It’s a tourist trap with overpriced everything, but it does have a special shine late at night.
Subway wisdom. Download the Citymapper app to navigate the subway like a pro. Be wary of weekend service changes.
Check out Brooklyn. Williamsburg and DUMBO have great cafes, street art, and views of Manhattan.
Hit up a local bar. Blind Barber in the East Village is fun. Yes, it’s a hidden speakeasy behind a barber shop!
I wish I knew about food trucks. Try the Halal Guys or Wafels & Dinges. They’re amazing and budget-friendly.
>Getting AroundDownload Citymapper for accurate transit times and route options. A subway ride costs $2.75 and is your best friend in Manhattan. Buses can be slower but are handy late at night or during storms. Taxis and Ubers are plentiful but pricier. Always check fares before hopping into a cab, especially late at night—sometimes Uber is cheaper!
>Is New York Worth It?Absolutely! New York is perfect for those who thrive in fast-paced environments and love diverse cultures. From Broadway shows to underground jazz clubs, there’s something for everyone. However, if you're more into laid-back beach vibes, it might not be your favorite. It can be overwhelming, but I’d return in a heartbeat—there’s always more to explore.
