Why I Love Yerevan
Yerevan is a city that feels like an open-air museum, buzzing with the energy of its warm people and rich history. Picture this: you’re walking down Cascade Complex; the sun is dipping, casting a golden glow over the city. The scent of fresh lavash wafts through the air. I fell in love with Yerevan because every corner seems to whisper stories from the past, yet it pulses with a modern vibrancy I didn’t expect. It’s hard not to be swept up in the charm of its ancient architecture melding seamlessly with trendy cafes and art installations. It’s like finding a secret treasure that quickly becomes a part of you.

>Where to EatYou have to try Lavash Restaurant for authentic Armenian dishes; their khorovats (barbecue) is mouthwatering. Don’t leave without eating at Dolmama — get the dolma; it’s legendary. For a fun vibe, head to Wine Republic. Their selection is fantastic, and the grilled meats are divine. Mid-range prices keep it accessible for a treat.
>Honest Local TipsStroll in Lover’s Park: It’s not just for lovers! A peaceful place to relax away from the hustle.
Use gg App for Taxis: It’s like Uber, and you’ll avoid any negotiation hassles with drivers.
Beware of Surprise Hills: The city is more hilly than it seems. Wear comfy shoes!
Street Crossing Chaos: Pedestrian crossings can feel like a wild risk; stay alert.
Cultural Etiquette: Being late is common, but always show courtesy.
Try Local Water: It’s safe and tasty — straight from the mountains.
Wish I Knew About Card Payments: Not everywhere takes cards, so always have some cash handy.
Yerevan is pretty walkable, especially in the city center. For longer distances, taxis are cheap, and the gg app is your friend here. Buses are crowded but an experience. Always confirm the price before getting into a cab if you’re hailing one off the street. Avoid unmarked taxis to stay safe.
>Is Yerevan Worth It?Absolutely! Yerevan is perfect for history buffs, art lovers, and anyone who enjoys exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations. It’s not yet overrun by tourists, which gives you a chance to connect with locals and experience authentic Armenian hospitality. If you’re after luxury shopping or high adrenaline adventures, it might not tick all your boxes. For me, its charm and depth make it a place I’d go back to in a heartbeat.
