Why I Love Krabi

You know that feeling when your feet touch the cool sand, and you're watching a sunset that makes the sky explode in colors you've only dreamed of? That’s Krabi for me. I remember sitting on Ao Nang Beach, feeling the gentle Thai breeze, and thinking, "This is paradise." Krabi’s stunning limestone cliffs and serene islands make it a place that captures your heart and doesn’t let go. You can feel the laid-back vibe in every corner, from the bustling night markets to the quiet temples. It’s a place where you can slow down and actually savor every moment.

Quick Facts

Krabi

Getting There

Getting to Krabi is pretty straightforward. You’ll likely fly into Krabi International Airport (KBV). From major cities like London or New York, you’ll probably have a layover in Bangkok or Singapore. Flights from Bangkok are plentiful and budget-friendly with airlines like Thai Smile or AirAsia. Keep in mind, U.S., UK, and EU citizens can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days if you’re arriving by air.

>My Favourite Things To Do

Explore Railay Beach

One of my favorite things to do here is just exploring Railay Beach. The limestone cliffs are stunning, and it’s perfect for rock climbing or just lounging with a good book. You can kayak around the caves, too! Book with Viator

Island Hopping

Taking an island hopping tour is a must. Discovering places like Ko Phi Phi and Bamboo Island was surreal. The snorkeling and turquoise waters make you feel like you’re swimming in a postcard. Book with GetYourGuide

Visit the Emerald Pool

Don't skip the Emerald Pool! It's a naturally beautiful, warm-water lagoon nestled in the jungle. Perfect for a refreshing swim after a short hike. Book with Viator

>Where to Eat

You have to try Ruen Mai Restaurant for authentic southern Thai cuisine—get the massaman curry. For a chill vibe and fresh seafood, head to Krua Thara; their grilled prawns are to die for. And, don't leave Krabi without eating at Gecko Cabane in Krabi Town. Their fusion dishes are a delightful surprise.

>Honest Local Tips

Embrace the Songthaew: These are super cheap and efficient for getting around towns. Just hop on and pay after you get off.

Wear your swim shoes: The beaches and waterfalls can be rocky. I wish I had known before my barefoot stumble!

Drink lots of water: The heat can creep up on you. Stay hydrated, especially during island tours.

Night market treasures: The Krabi Town Night Market is perfect for great food and local crafts, but bring cash.

Avoid the monkeys: As cute as they seem, they can be sly little pickpockets. Watch your belongings around them.

Check the tide times: Some beaches vanish at high tide, so plan accordingly to avoid disappointment.

>Getting Around

Navigating Krabi is quite simple. Download the Grab app for easy taxi rides. Renting a scooter is popular and costs about 200-300 THB/day, just watch out on the winding roads. Songthaews are a budget-friendly and fun option for getting around town. And remember, long-tail boats are your best bet for nearby islands.

>Is Krabi Worth It?

Absolutely, Krabi is a slice of paradise meant for beach lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone needing a serene escape. The natural beauty here is unparalleled, but it’s not where you go for a wild nightlife. Ideal for couples, families, and solo travelers who want to relax and explore. I’d go back in a heartbeat—that sunset is a memory that stays with you.
